A Practıcal Example Of Nurses’ Use Of Socıal Medıa And Theır Level Of Perceptıon Of Theır Job


This study was conducted in a practical manner. The survey, which was used as a measuring instrument in the research, was previously tested for validity and reliability. The survey is comprised of two parts. The first part includes questions related to the socio-demographic features of the participants while the second part includes 29 questions with a 5-point Likert scale. The 29 items were divided into 4 sub-dimensional “Factors”. The research lasted for 6 months approximately. During this period, all of the participants were selected through simple random sampling.Participants’ identity, institution or other private information were not requested or included in the research forms. Male and female participants took part in the research (N=1139). All participants were actively employed in health institutions. The target population of the study was Turkey while the samples were selected from the provinces of Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Bursa, Ankara, Kocaeli, Samsun, Van, Aydın, Muğla, Çanakkale, Çorum, Trabzon, Bingöl, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Konya, Afyon and Diyarbakır. The data acquired from the participants were analyzed through various analysis techniques by using the statistical software SPSS. In consequence of the analysis, it was concluded that all participants frequently used the social media, personal relations were damaged due to the frequent useof the social media, the work performance and productivity were reduced, some participants were psychologically affected, and the social media was used not for the purposes of education, profession or self-development but for communication purposes in order to reach information at national or international level.
